NOURISHING NARRATIVES

ABOUT

Nourishing Narratives is a national mobile film competition hosted by Mosaic Film Experience, in collaboration with Newman’s Own Foundation. The contest provided a platform for youth to share their perspectives on food justice and equitable food system for all.

Open to youth ages 10-18, the competition challenged participants to create and submit original films—up to three minutes in length—created and edited entirely on mobile devices. Each film was required to explore the filmmaker’s view of food justice, highlight innovative ideas or solutions, and incorporate three key elements: a fruit or vegetable prop, the saying “Tomorrow Starts Here,” and a strong connection to the theme of food justice.

Submissions were evaluated on storytelling, creativity, originality, integration for the required elements, and technical execution.

As we celebrate what would have been Paul Newman’s 100th birthday this year, and the incredible impact that his legacy continues to have on advancing food justice, we’re excited to launch this initiative to bring youth voices to the forefront of a very important national conversation.

We’re pleased to partner with Mosaic Film Experience to host one of the only youth-focused food justice film experiences worldwide.
